In Texas, a parent's rights can be terminated. There are a variety of factors that a court may consider in determining whether or not the parent-child relationship should be severed. For instance, in the event that a parent significantly neglects or abuses a child, the court could take that into consideration. If a parent abandons a mother and a child for a significant period of time, the court can take that into consideration. And for mothers, not just for fathers, the court can consider to terminate both parents relationship. In particular, if a mother attempts to abort the child and fails, a court can consider that for termination.
